Love, Simon is a safe, non-threatening, formulaic, consumable pastiche created to make straight audiences feel progressive for watching a "gay" movie.

Some very powerful moments. Some very relatable moments. But it's also nice to see a queer drama which (despite a character's homosexuality being the core of the narrative) isn't wholly fucking depressing. _Final rating:★★★ - I liked it. Would personally recommend you give it a go._
Read full review →This is the story of Simon, a senior in high school, who is secretly gay. Much of his struggle is really accepting himself as he knows that his parents will accept him. While trying to find love and keep his identity a secret, he creates a fake profile to post on school forum and is surprised when another guy at school is gay and starts to write back to him. They develop a bond without ever knowing who the other person was.
