This is clearly a product of its time, and it is a true sequel in that it gives a few seconds-long recap of the entire first movie and then dive straight into unrelated action. The movie itself is reasonably good, especially given the premise they have to work with and the budget and effects available to them. It is interesting to see how the actors in the suits move, and that you can tell who are schooled in Japan for similar shows and movies.
