Nikos Kazis

Nikos Kazis (1927 - 1 October 2006) was a Greek actor, a graduate of the drama school of the National Theatre. He made his debut in 1948 with the Miranda Myrat - Lambros Konstantaras troupe in the play "Turn off the light" by Asimakis Gialamas, at the "Macedoniko" theatre in Thessaloniki (the same year he became a member of the Greek Theatre Association). He played many and varied roles in comedies, dramas and ancient tragedies. He collaborated with Lambros Konstantaras, Vasilis Logothetides, Nikos Hatziskos, Antigone Valakou, Kostas Hatzichristos and others. He collaborated with the National Theatre from time to time (1954-1957, 1960-1964, 1966-1975) in key roles such as: Polynices in The Phoenicians, Ion in the play of the same name, Orestes in Electra, Achilles in Iphigenia at Aulis, Eteocles in The Seven at Thebes, Lord Goring in "An Ideal Husband", Lord Darlington in "Lady Windermere's Fan", etc. In cinema he played in the films The Heavens Are Ours, Golfo, Stournara 288, Antigone, As Long as There Are Women, etc. In the 1960s he participated in several plays on the radio. A relatively unknown activity of his was that of a singer (at the age of 15-17 he appeared during the years of the Occupation in variety shows such as "Oasis", "Alcazar", "Cine-News"). He was the one who brought Vasilis Malouchos to the theater.
