Ian Richardson delivers quite engagingly here as Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s fastidious detective “Sherlock Holmes” but I didn’t get so much from Donald Churchill’s contributions as his crucial sidekick “Dr. Watson” in this adapted for television movie. They are intrigued by the mysterious death of an aristocrat at his country home on remote Dartmoor and so descend on the place, at the invitation of “Dr. Mortimer” (Denholm Elliott) and with the new lord of the manor “Sir Henry” (Martin Shaw) to try and ascertain whether there is any truth to local rumours of a legendary hound tormenting the ances…
