An excellent core idea, featuring a highly poetic metaphor and truly intriguing premise. Unfortunately, the film loses its way as early as first half; the timelines are too disconnected from the main plot, causing narrative thread to be lost and making whole thing feel rather flat and tedious. It recovers somewhat towards the end, though not enough to save the film as a whole.
