Overview

In the shadow of Castle Dracula, the Prince of Darkness is revived by blood trickling from the head-wound of an unconscious priest attempting exorcism. Though for the classic Hammer 'Dracula' series starring Sir Christopher Lee as the 'protagonist' it loses oomph for not also starring Sir Peter Cushing (who always seemed to get the best work out of Lee in the Hammer days), this still is wildly admirable and a must-watch. The wonderful (and ingenious) poster, on its own, more than makes up for Cushing's absence.

Shadows and Fog. Dracula Has Risen from the Grave is the fourth film in Hammer Films' Dracula series. It is directed by Freddie Francis and written by Anthony Hinds (under his alias John Elder). It stars Christopher Lee, Rupert Davies, Veronica Carlson, Barry Andrews and Barbara Ewing. Music is by James Bernard and cinematography by Arthur Grant. Very much a case of style over substance, Dracula Has Risen from the Grave is still very much a top line Hammer Dracula pic.
