It begins when he encounters Hayes on the train London, where she says she is going to Scotland Yard to tell them of the suspicious deaths and tell them who was responsible. However, minutes after leaving the train, she is run down in a hit-and-run and killed. So Bixby decides to inyrtvrnr snd proceeds to meet the long list of eccentrics suspects, including the welcome presence of elegant De Havilland and luscious Down, among the veteran character actors.
