The sequel to 1996's Independence Day, "Resurgence" had high expectations but fails to deliver on many levels. The plot device of the distress call from the aliens in the original movie is acceptable, but the rest of the film is plagued with poor writing, cheesy performances, and outdated CGI. Jeff Goldblum is the only bright spot in the film, but even his character is limited by one-liners and exaggerated reactions. The main characters, Liam Hemsworth and Jessie T.
