Humphrey DeForest Bogart (25 de diciembre de 1899 - 14 de enero de 1957), apodado Bogie, fue un actor de cine y teatro estadounidense. Sus actuaciones en películas del cine clásico de Hollywood lo convirtieron en un ícono cultural estadounidense. En 1999, el American Film Institute seleccionó a Bogart como la mayor estrella masculina del cine clásico estadounidense. Bogart comenzó a actuar en espectáculos de Broadway, comenzando su carrera en películas con Up the River (1930) para Fox y apareció en papeles secundarios durante la siguiente década, interpretando regularmente a gánsteres. Fue elogiado por su trabajo como Duke Mantee en El bosque petrificado (1936), pero permaneció en un papel secundario frente a otros actores de Warner Bros. que recibieron papeles principales.
