Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, nacido como Ferdinand Lewis Alcindor Jr. el 16 de abril de 1947 en la ciudad de Nueva York, creció en el barrio obrero de Harlem en una familia de ascendencia trinitense, criada en la tradición católica e imbuida de valores como el honor y la dignidad.
