Sinopsis
El propio John McEnroe se pone delante de la cámara para hacer un repaso sin filtros de su carrera, sus triunfos, derrotas, rivalidades y amistades. Lo acompañamos por su antiguo barrio neoyorkino, donde comienza su historia con un precoz talento para el tenis. Repasa sus inicios en el deporte, sus Grand Slam y sus partidos más icónicos, incluida la épica final de Wimbledon de 1980 contra Björn Borg (que también acompaña con su testimonio a McEnroe en el documental). Se unen además también Patty Smyth, Keith Richards o Billie Jean King para retratar a un hombre que se autodenomina "el mejor jugador de la historia". Un homenaje a un deportista siempre en búsqueda de la perfección que no deja de lado las partes más oscuras de su vida y de su personalidad.
