The show is so good that it deserved a much better ending. Erin Greene's monologue at the end is "I am high and I think this is deep" territory. It's just cringe. I liked Riley Flynn's earlier monologue better. Both of them, even in the face of supernatural, somehow manage to make materialist and reductionist arguments. If philosophy, dogmatism and the human condition interest you do watch it. Don't worry about the ending; "it's the journey and not the destination" and all.

Midnight Mass is a masterclass in atmospheric and ritualistic horror, trading cheap jump scares for a slow-burn descent into religious occultism. Set on the isolated Crockett Island, the show builds a thick, suffocating sense of dread that perfectly captures the terrifying intersection of blind faith and supernatural transformation. The writing is incredibly sharp, utilizing philosophical dialogue and a haunting, liturgical score to create a world that feels both grounded and deeply unsettling.
